opswdProvincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Mita Tecson reported accomplishments from January to July 2016 at Monday’s Convocation Program at the Capitol.
Tecson cited noteworthy accomplishments include physical and occupational therapy as well as special education and social development for 145 children with disabilities at the Stimulation Therapeutic Activity Center; filing of cases, therapy to overcome experience for 24 youth and 46 women victims of abuse at the Bohol Crisis Intervention Center; training with TESDA for the assembly of assistive devices for 30 Persons with Disabilities of the Bohol Federation of Persons with Disabilities, Inc.
She also mentioned the monitoring of PWD friendliness of establishments; financial assistance for 125,126 senior citizens through the Bohol Federation of Senior Citizens; 5,543 constituents availing of the Aid to Individuals in Crisis situation P8,364,000 out of P13,000,000 through medical, and  burial, housing assistance.
7,040 indigents assisted thru Philhealth with 46 families not under Philhealth but provided zero balance billing at hospital and 180 relocated through housing partnership of the Provincial Government/DSWD/Tzu Chi Foundation; livelihood for 104 badjao families; education assistance for 127 Badjao students; employment of 2 Badjao day care workers for Badjao children; facilitating provincial level awards for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya; advocacy on Peace and Development initiatives as well as Human rights and international human rights; and support initiatives to make possible child friendly local governance for 46 LGUs of the province.
Gov. Edgar Chatto underscored important work of the PSWDO together with BCIC and STAC in providing service to the Indigent, Vulnerable sector.
He also recognized struggling Boholanos who live better through government and private sector partnerships especially PWDs he tagged as Persons with Determination who have been a truly empowered sector in the province, contributing not only to development for the sector but also for the province as a whole.
With the theme Buwan ng Wika sa Kapitolyo, the convocation program also featured folk dances, OPM and a balagtasan.
The governoro also issued a directive for the use of culture and arts in communicating ill effects of illegal drugs such as informative one act plays for information dissemination across communities.
He stressed the social work tasks as he announced establishment of a Drug rehabilitaion center with DOH support in management as well as a Center for Drug Education and Counseling.
Also recognized were provincial winners of the Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya of the 4PS program of the DSWD.
Monday’s convocation were also attended by the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
